Our current project (2025-2026)
The support project in Lebanon is a special mission for PSF Switzerland, which generally works on development cooperation missions and rarely on emergency missions. However, in view of the dramatic situation in Lebanon, PSF Switzerland decided to carry out an emergency mission that began in February 2022 alongside one of its local partners to implement a project in the poorest districts of Beirut. Following the depreciation of its currency, the pandemic and the explosion that ravaged Beirut, Lebanon is currently experiencing not only an economic crisis but also a genuine humanitarian crisis. Poverty has spread across all social strata, which is why PSF Switzerland has been asked to intervene in the field as a matter of urgency.
The evaluation missions all confirmed the need to continue the emergency intervention initiated in 2022 as well as the support for the 2 additional partners added in May 2023, while developing the collaboration with the local infrastructures to maintain sufficient quality aid in line with the criteria of PSF Switzerland. Although the arrival of a volunteer had to be cancelled for security reasons, the work has not stopped. Regular meetings by videoconference with our local partners enabled us to monitor developments and adjust our actions in line with PSF Switzerland’s 2025-2026 project.
The following objectives have been defined for this project :
- Access to quality medicines for the most deprived people.
- Rational use of medicines in a country where the quality of care has deteriorated immensely.
